Discover Something New! Innovative Airsoft Guns by ASG!

Published 2024-01-08 by Tyler J.

What are some unique high performance airsoft guns?

Growing up, you may have played online multiplayer gun games like Escape from Tarkov or Battlefield and witnessed servers filled with a diverse array of digital firearms. To your right, a teammate with a rare PP2000 submachine gun. To your left, another with a not often seen OTS-14 Groza bullpup rifle. As you enter the online battlefield, the enemies you engage wield a cornucopia of unique firearms from across history, making every encounter and engagement a fascinating exchange of firepower. However, as you show up to your local airsoft field, you may begin to notice a glaring problem.

It’s all M4s.

Always has been.

In the airsoft world, the M4 platform reigns supreme. It’s difficult to contest against a platform with competitive out-the-box options and an extensive aftermarket for customization. Most players do want to see more rifle variety at the field! Unfortunately, it’s not all too simple when most non-M4 options simply don’t have nearly the same versatility. Fortunately, one particular brand in airsoft has been leading the charge in remediating this samey-same state of affairs! That brand is none other than ASG, and their impressive lineup of options constantly push the bounds for what a non-M4 platform can offer you on the airsoft battlefield. In this article, we’ll take a look at a few of their most notable offerings, exploring the unique advantages to be gained from their diverse catalog of airsoft replicas.

Among ASG’s catalog, one rifle brilliantly stands out as their magnum opus. Even today, few rifles can compare to its out-the-box brilliance. That rifle is none other than…

Ever since its release, this polymer-bodied compact monster has been a capital standard of what out the box AEG performance can be. While most AEGs tend to fizzle into obscurity over the years with newer high performance models taking the spotlight, the ASG Scorpion EVO has steadily and quietly improved its quality and design to keep it competitive in an ever evolving market. A common complaint often made about the Scorpion EVO is "why is it so expensive for a polymer bodied platform?" Fascinatingly, the ASG Scorpion EVO is actually designed with the same polymer used on its real steel counterpart, keeping the weight down and adding to the authenticity of the platform. Once you see how nicely this SMG can fling a BB down range, you'll understand where that price tag is coming from. This unique SMG is actually produced in the Netherlands, ensuring maximum quality-control and precision manufacturing go into every unit that leaves the factory.

Authentic polymer construction isn't the only thing adding to this SMGs realism. ASG equipped their Scorpion Evo with a functional bolt release and magazine cutoff, further simulating an authentic operation experience with your rifle. When the magazine is cleared of BBs, the motor will stop cycling, requiring a loaded magazine be inserted before pressing the bolt catch to resume operation. While this genuine action might slow down a speedier ‘softer, some find the extra interaction with their platform to add to the immersion and mastery their choice of weapon can bring to their game.

Though the ASG Scorpion EVO might demand a little extra attention when it comes to reloading, it more than makes up for that little hurdle with its impressive trigger response. The tactile microswitch this platform comes pre-equipped with arms this SMG with a semi-auto rate of fire that can put upgraded aftermarket M4s to shame. Its compact size excels in CQB, but most models will come out of the box shooting around 400 FPS. For the ASG Scorpion Evo, this is no problem, as folding in the stock will unveil the quick change spring system that can assist with bringing your platform’s velocity down in seconds.

Not only does this SMG outperform most M4s on the market in terms of range and trigger response, but it also carries a number of interesting features. As with any platform, it has it’s pros and cons. But, if you’re down to try something new and refuse to skimp on field viability, the Scorpion EVO SMG is likely the perfect new primary for you!

Often, I find myself stuck between whether I want to run a pistol as a primary for thrilling up-close engagements, or a longer rifle to lay back and take out targets at range with. With the B&T USW, you can take advantage of the best of both worlds! In airsoft, a handgun can offer you some of the best mobility and quick firearm manipulation possible, which make them fantastic tools for dealing with up-close enemies. However, a lack of a stock often makes them ineffective tools for landing long distance shots with. Your shoulder plays an important role in keeping your rifle steady! While stocks have been adapted for pistols before, they typically cause the handgun to stray from its original purpose of being lightweight and maneuverable. The B&T USW's stock is little more than a simple reinforced polymer stick, adding very little weight to the handgun's overall feel. If circumstances call for it, the stock can easily be folded down to allow the handgun to be wielded like any ordinary pistol.

This pistol was born to be kitted out with attachments! If you prefer a little more precision than just standard iron sights, the USW offers a picatinny top-rail so you can add your choice of red dot. The 14mm negative threads on the end of the barrel easily allow you to add on your favorite tracer units or suppressors as well. As the icing on the cake, this handgun works wonderfully with ASG’s recommended universal holster, the ASG Strike Systems Universal Pistol Holster. True to its name, the USW can adequately serve a wide range of firearm niches all at once. Convenient!

Getting into airsoft sniping can be a tricky topic. You’re going to have to concede that despite wielding a primary best designed for excellent range and accuracy, you’re only going to shoot as far as an AEG of similar velocity. It’s difficult to tell if it’s slower, patient playstyle is perfect for you until you try it. Since most “upgraded” sniper rifles end up falling around the $200-400 price point, there’s a bit of a barrier to entry when it comes to exploring this part of the hobby.

If you find yourself in this predicament, ASG has you covered. The ASG McMillan M40 is an outlier when it comes to price/performance for airsoft sniper rifles, offering impressive range at an incredibly inexpensive price point. This sniper's brilliance is no secret to the community either, as its popularity has only increased as the years have gone by. Most “Top X Airsoft Snipers” list will more than likely include this one for it’s consistent performance and prevalence in the hobby. So long as your field allows bolt action rifles over 400 FPS, all you’ll need are 0.32g BBs to send rounds flying a tad further than competing rifles on the opposing end of the field. Give this budget rifle a shot to discover whether airsoft sniping is for you!

This oddball rifle is sure to turn some heads at the field! The design of the CZ Bren hits a sweet spot in the realm of gun design. It's the perfect blend of seriousness and uniqueness, taking a form that's close but not quite the same as the more recognizable FN SCAR-L. By taking one of these onto the field, you're sure to get a few players asking what it is you're running. The aluminum and reinforced polymer give the CZ Bren an authentic firearm feel that few other platforms are able to meet, making this AEG perfect for someone searching for a more realistic experience. To keep it user friendly, the Bren uses standard M4 magazines that are widely available on the airsoft market. Its stock performance is admirable, and it can be further upgraded due to the standard V3 gearbox design it takes advantage of. For those who want to stand out with something rugged, realistic, versatile, and effective, take a look at the CZ Bren!

If you’re familiar with real-steel handguns, you might be understandably off-put by how lightweight airsoft pistols are in comparison. Generally, it’s simply not efficient for these replicas to have the materials be one to one with the real thing. A steel pistol slide would make the system gas inefficient and overly expensive for what the average airsofter is willing to pay. However, it seems that ASG has cracked the perfect middle ground for one particular line of their pistols. Their CZs (The CZ Shadow 2 especially) have a degree of quality to them unlike no other handgun on the airsoft market. Their heft is enough to make one raise consideration to whether it’s real or not on initial handling, and yet they cycle and perform wonderfully with the suggested CO2 magazines. This pistol is the perfect blend of style, performance, and overall feel, making it the ideal choice for people who want a sidearm that means business.

While the M4 platform's dominance is rooted in its versatility and customization options, players tend to crave a little more diversity in their airsoft experience. ASG is at the forefront of this change, offering a range of non-M4 options that challenge the status quo with innovative designs and competitive performance. By exploring ASG's unique catalog, airsoft enthusiasts can discover a world beyond the ever-prevalent M4, where each gun brings its own flavor to the game. By embracing these alternatives, you can take part in the enrichment of rifle diversity at your local field, bringing the colorful arsenals found in our favorite shooters to the airsoft battlegrounds.
