The New Age of King Arms Rifles!

Published 2024-01-15 by Tyler J.

Why aren't King Arms as discussed as other brands?

There are few markets as dynamic as airsoft’s. Every year, the bounds of reliability and performance are constantly pushed. New electronics are finding their way into just about every mainstream rifle, and older-brands are beginning to surge in innovation like never-before in order to stay relevant. In general, most guns are offering more features for far less than ever due to improvements in manufacturing. It would’ve been unthinkable to have a rifle with advanced electronics, wire-cut high speed gears, and full aluminum compression parts in a stock $300 rifle just 10 years ago. And yet, today you can go out and buy yourself a CYMA Platinum for around that price range and have a factory gun that would’ve outperformed just 98% of most players' rifles at that time. The standards for what features a “good” rifle should have are higher than they’ve ever been, and yet that hasn’t stopped King Arms from staying relevant. King Arms is a brand who’s catalog has changed drastically in the past decade, going from offering a wide range of solid performing AEG platforms to a more niche assortment of gas rifles and high performance M4s. With all that’s changed, are they still relevant enough to be worth your penny?

Let’s find out as we dive deep into King Arm’s modern lineup of airsoft guns!

EagleTwo

King Arms has one of the most diverse catalogs of airsoft guns in the whole industry. However, there is one particular platform of theirs that’s become a community fan favorite among beginners to the hobby. A good beginner gun is versatile, lightweight, competitively viable, and inexpensive.

And this cool 9mm SMG does it all!

The idea of heading into battle with a lightweight, compact SMG to quickly burst down people in close engagements is one that often captivates newer players. But with so many M4s on the market and so few SMGs in comparison, it can be difficult to pinpoint which one is the perfect choice for starting out. There is good reason for such an abundance of M4s on the market; They’re lightweight, easy to use, and are endlessly modular in the case you want to make changes to your rifle in the future. The platform’s popularity is no surprise, though it does leave those who want to start with something different a little disadvantaged. At least, that’s how it would be had the King Arms 9mm not existed. This little powerhouse is the perfect fusion of a classic MP5 SMG and an M4!

Neat as it may be, you might be wondering if this rifle can stand a tee to other competitive options on the beginner airsoft market. As someone that’s played a few games with this rifle, I’ve been pleasantly surprised with how much of a joy it is to field. First and foremost, this is a primary that you can dominate with no matter how noodly your arms are. Its polymer construction and short barrel length greatly reduce the field fatigue you’d normally accumulate if using a heavier replica. Despite being mechanical, the semi-automatic trigger response felt impressively smooth. Its electronic MOSFET system aids to that response, and I never felt like I wasn’t able to fire off as many shots as I needed to. Many other beginner guns tend to have sluggish feeling trigger pulls due to mechanical limitations. The King Arms PDW, however, definitely stands a few steps ahead of its competitors in this department. As far as versatility goes, the King Arms PDW is internally standardized to allow for endless aftermarket modification down the line. Combined with its quick change spring feature and straightforward design, I’d argue that these are one of the easiest rifles to disassemble and work on in the whole hobby. This is a perfect base platform for any aspiring airsoft tech!

Even in 2024, King Arms provides a perfectly serviceable beginner rifle that I can recommend to just about anyone getting into the hobby.

“But what about their more premium rifles,” you might be asking?

In the past couple years, King Arms has been working with EMG to bring M4s with real-steel designs and trademarks to the airsoft world. This understandably isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. Many players simply want a rifle that performs well and couldn’t care less who’s name is stamped on a receiver. For those who do enjoy seeing real AR brands work their way into the airsoft hobby, you’ll be pleasantly surprised to find that King Arms has done their licensed line due justice. Not only do these higher-end King Arms rifles look and feel excellent, but they also have a number of design features that are worth mentioning. Can they compare to other competitive brands offering M4s in the same price range such as Krytac, CYMA, and Specna?

The look and feel of the EMG/King Arms BRO SPEC15 is something to behold. Definitely one of my favorite M4s of all time!

If you simply like the real steel brand and just want a replica of an AR you’ve had experience with, you can’t go wrong with a King Arms/EMG rifle. The best way to describe the experience of this rifle is “simplicity perfected.” The King Arms series doesn’t go for any gimmicky electronic trigger unit or “redesigned gearbox” system, and instead respectfully sticks to the tried and true Tokyo Marui V2 M4 design. To maximize longevity, the rifles come with wire-cut steel gears, a full steel rack piston, and a radiused gearbox shell. Though mechanical, its trigger response is on par with many other top-of-the-line brands due to its impressive neodymium high torque motor and in-line MOSFET. Like the PDW, these rifles are ripe for dropping in your preferred aftermarket parts. There is nothing proprietary about a King Arms M4. Every part is free to be replaced how you see fit!

The STRIKE Industires GRIDLOK rail is pretty neat!

You can’t go wrong with a classic Daniel Defense Colt Mk18!

Leading the charge in Gas Powered Sniper Rifles!

While regular-ol’ spring snipers might have the convenience of not needing any additional power source, they just don’t share the same feel as a real rifle bolt. A real steel bolt action is light and smooth, much like the gas sniper rifles King Arms has to offer!

Much like their licensed M4s, King Arms has brought a more realistic edge to the airsoft sniping experience. The pull of the bolt is designed to immerse you with the same feel a real sniper’s bolt would have, which generally improves quality of life during airsoft play. You don’t need to worry about pulling back a powerful sniper spring every shot! While its nature as a gas gun can give it velocity fluctuations depending on the temperature, its range and accuracy is still rather impressive. If you want a better feeling rifle to sit back and enjoy taking out targets from across the field with, definitely check out these King Arms gas snipers!

Their M700 model comes with selectable FPS options to cater to a wider range of field regulations.

On top of their major listings, King Arms offers a fascinating plethora of niche airsoft replicas. Some of which include….

Wacky modernized revolvers!

Carbine kits for your Glock!

A surprisingly decent historical gas blowback!

Kingdoms rise and fall. Some brands sink while others swim. Amidst this sea of change, King Arms has adapted, shifting its focus to specialize in the part of the market they excel at best. Generally, I feel that King Arms has done a reasonably good job at staying relevant in the modern airsoft scene. Versatility is their strongest point, and you can never go wrong with standardized parts that are built tough. The ever-evolving landscape of airsoft technology will forever pose challenges for manufacturers, but it seems that King Arms is just as flexible as their rifles when it comes to offering competitive products for your next airsoft game.
